Opener Jason Roy, who led England to success in limited overs cricket, has withdrawn from the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Jason Roy was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 2 crore. Jason has also informed Gujarat Titans about his decision not to participate in the IPL. According to media reports, Jason Roy had informed the Gujarat team management about this a few days ago.
Withdrawn due to bio-bubble fatigue
Jason Roy participated for Quetta Gladiators in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL). According to media reports, Roy wants to avoid fatigue by staying in the bio-bubble for a long time, due to which he has withdrawn his name from the league. Even in the year 2020, Jason Roy did not participate in the league. At that time, the team of Delhi Capitals bought Jason Roy Roe for Rs 1.50 crore. After which he refused to participate in the IPL.
England opener Jason Roy has previously been associated with the Gujarat Lions, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad team. He has played only 13 matches in this league so far, in which he has 329 runs to his name. Roy made his league debut in 2017 for Kolkata Knight Riders while playing for Gujarat Lions. Jason Roy is trying to keep himself fit keeping in mind the T20 World Cup to be held in October.
Jason Roy’s performance in PSL
Jason Roy also showed a great game in the Pakistan Super League. Roy scored 303 runs in 6 matches while playing for Quetta Gladiators. He scored a century and 2 fifties in 1 out of 6 innings. In the first match, Jason Roy scored 116 runs against Lahore Qalandar. Roy’s exit is a big setback for Gujarat Titans. Soon the team will also get the replacement of Jason Roy.
This season of Indian Premier League is to start from 26 March and the final match is to be played on 29 May. This time 10 teams have to participate in the league, which have been divided into two different groups. Gujarat Titans is included in Group B along with Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Punjab.
